I love customers who know what they want and at least got some idea of what kind of cake they are looking for. Hints and clues make my designing easier. This time this nice customer love the idea I presented to her after she told me that she wanted a Minnie Mouse theme cake for her daughter's 8th birthday. So we decided to go with red, white, black, polka dots, bows and Minnie Mouse ears. This whole cake is not a new idea. There are hundreds of similar ideas out there but I think we managed to come out with a cute, nice cake for her daughter's birthday and she was pleased with the cake. She loved the Red Velvet cake inside that Minnie Mouse.
A series of my own confessions that follow reveal the intimate details of my own ongoing attempts to be perfect in my own little world. The cool things that I love nowadays are Baking cakes & pastries, making FIMO crafts and jewelries and sharing with you my thoughts and all the beautiful things that I stumble upon in this world.

Sweet Island Flower For A Wedding Cake
I have been meaning to put Tahitian Gardenia flower or Tiare (in Hawaiian) on a cake for a long time. I just couldn't find the right moment and the right cake. Finally this 3-tier light yellowish cream colored wedding cake deserves some of these really sweet Tiare flowers.
I have always been so fond of Tiare since I was living in Honolulu many years ago and you can never find this flower in tropical Malaysia except in Hawaii, Tahiti and the pacific islands only. I wish I could bring the seedlings of Tiare and grow them here as we have the close cousin of this flower Gardenia Carinata growing wild in Malaysia. But this is another unrelated issue altogether.
I didn't want to use lots of Tiare flowers on my wedding cake for the first time...I just want to "quietly" introduce this flower on my cake for now and accented it with some tiny colorful filler flowers, so that the Tiare is still the main flowers and the center of attention.
Next time when I can find the right cake, the right time, the right place and the right customer that can really promote my cake designs to the public, I will put Tiare flowers as the only flowers that adorn the special cake. I will make sure that that cake will be so awesome then and something that I am really proud of for something so unique that bears my name on it.
However this time, I don't like the quality of the photos of this cake. I was rushing to send it to a customer for a big wedding in Terengganu. I had to find a decent corner in my living room to shoot this cake and there were not enough lighting to show the real color and the designs on the cake. But I have to make do with just this for now.

One Year Old Birthday Cake
Somehow a lot of customers are celebrating One year old birthday for their kids this year. This one she requested a birthday cake that shaped into number One and has racing cars on top of it. She wanted me to use my Swiss Meringue Buttercream for the frosting but do the racing cars in fondants. And naturally whenever there are many kids at a birthday party, chocolate cake is the number one choice. So I did my Devil Food Cake.... moist, heavy, not overly sweet and packed with chocolate flavor.
Below is the cake I did for her little son.

Black Theme Birthday Party = Tuxedo Cake
A customer Mr. Haycarl asked me to make a cake for his birthday that is black themed. Immediately I suggested a fondant Tuxedo cake. He gave me the license to choose the cake flavor and at first I decided to make a triple flavor marble cake; vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. And then I was going to layer it with chocolate ganache and strawberry Swiss meringue buttercream. I think this would have made a great cake. But at the last minute I changed my mind and decided to go with my Red Velvet instead which I can be sure will be a big hit and it did.

Flower And Garden Wedding Cake
This cake was made for a wedding on the 29th December 2012. She was doing a garden theme at her wedding reception and wanted her cake to suit the theme as well. And so I made her this cake that has flowers all over it with a bunch of multicolored Roses vanilla cupcakes. Inside is a 7 colored Rainbow Cake I thought really suited her colorful garden theme wedding. And She loved it and they loved the delicious rainbow cake too.
Teddy Bear Cake
I love a good challenge as it gives me a good practice of creating new cakes and I get paid to do it too. I always encourage my customers to give me interesting cake orders. So on the 29th December 2012, I made a Teddy Bear fondant cake for a One year old birthday girl and this was the first time for me. It was fun and exciting to make. The best part is I discovered some basic problems of how to work with fondant and how to properly and safely transport fondant cake to the customers. Since Malaysia's weather is so hot, humid and raining all the times, fondants are so sensitive to all these and air conditioned room is such an important factor in order to keep the cake and the fondant from melting, sweating and fell apart.
Below was my first time Teddy Bear Cake made from Fondant and I used Devil Food Cake on the inside. Kids love a really good chocolate cake.

Wedding Cake in Graphic Cutout Hydrangeas
A customer requested a simple square cake with a bow but then change his mind for a more elaborate design and requested me to put a silk-flower on top of his cake. And i was like...huh? what? Silkflowers? Oh no no no! That cake will have my name stamped on it and I will not associate my own cake with silkflowers. So I told him nicely and presented my ideas and he and his wife loved it.
Since he wanted the inside cake to be Devil Food cake so I covered the cake with Pattince Chocolate Fondants that taste really yummy too. Below is the cake.....

Wilton USA & Squires Kitchen Diploma
Yippie yayyyy!!! Finally I get to do my two most desired things recently... I went to the ICCA (International Center of Cake Artistry) and did my Wilton Method Intensive Decorating (USA) and my Squires Kitchen Diploma Course: Advance Level (UK). It cost a bomb to do these Wilton USA intensive courses and the diploma but it was all worth it. Now I know a lot of cake decorating techniques.
I feel so lucky to complete these intensive decorating courses. It was really hard and very demanding courses because everything was crunched into 8 consecutive days only. Below are some of the project that we did in the class.
