I love getting a wedding cake order from a bride who knows what she wants. She asked for a 5-tier wedding cake but her budget has a limit. So instead of doing all 5-tiers with real cakes, I suggested to her that two of the tiers to be dummy cakes. So she decided to let first bottom tier and the last on top to be the dummy cakes.
The next thing she had to decide was that what flavor should be the cakes? After a long discussions back and forth, she decided with Devil Foodcake aka chocolate for the 2nd tier, Vanilla for the 3rd tier and Rose flavor for the 4th tier. And just to make the cake more interesting, I put some pink color for the Rose Flavor so that it looks pretty when she cut it into pieces for the guests and left vanilla flavor to the natural yellowish butter color.
Third discussions we had about the cake was that at first I thought I had to stacked the 5 tier cakes. But then she wanted to use fresh roses flowers to decorate her cake so she asked me if I could use pillar for the cake. So I changed it to Pillared 5-tier cake and filled up in between the tiers with fresh red roses. And to make this square cake more interesting, I put some kind of texture on the cake so it looks more contemporary and interesting.
However about the color of the frosting, at first I promised her to make the cake into ombre peach color, darker peach in the bottom and lightest at the top. But during the production of the frosting, in the middle of the night before the wedding day, the frosting that we had been making was not enough and I ran out of butter to make the frosting so I changed the color to one color tone only, light peach.
After the wedding she called me and said that she was very pleased with her wedding cake and everybody loved the cake and said that they were so delicious. I was so happy to hear such a comment from a happy customer.
And below is how the cake looked like.

One Year Old Birthday Cake
Somehow a lot of customers are celebrating One year old birthday for their kids this year. This one she requested a birthday cake that shaped into number One and has racing cars on top of it. She wanted me to use my Swiss Meringue Buttercream for the frosting but do the racing cars in fondants. And naturally whenever there are many kids at a birthday party, chocolate cake is the number one choice. So I did my Devil Food Cake.... moist, heavy, not overly sweet and packed with chocolate flavor.

Teddy Bear Cake
I love a good challenge as it gives me a good practice of creating new cakes and I get paid to do it too. I always encourage my customers to give me interesting cake orders. So on the 29th December 2012, I made a Teddy Bear fondant cake for a One year old birthday girl and this was the first time for me. It was fun and exciting to make. The best part is I discovered some basic problems of how to work with fondant and how to properly and safely transport fondant cake to the customers. Since Malaysia's weather is so hot, humid and raining all the times, fondants are so sensitive to all these and air conditioned room is such an important factor in order to keep the cake and the fondant from melting, sweating and fell apart.
Below was my first time Teddy Bear Cake made from Fondant and I used Devil Food Cake on the inside. Kids love a really good chocolate cake.

Wedding Cake in Graphic Cutout Hydrangeas
A customer requested a simple square cake with a bow but then change his mind for a more elaborate design and requested me to put a silk-flower on top of his cake. And i was like...huh? what? Silkflowers? Oh no no no! That cake will have my name stamped on it and I will not associate my own cake with silkflowers. So I told him nicely and presented my ideas and he and his wife loved it.
Since he wanted the inside cake to be Devil Food cake so I covered the cake with Pattince Chocolate Fondants that taste really yummy too. Below is the cake.....

Devil's Food Cake
Been making a lot of Devil's Food Cake lately. For some reasons when I posted my new design for the cake in my www.facebook.com/dwenujang and www.facebook.com/PrettyYummyThings a lot of my customers started to order this cake again. And of course some of them asked me to change the design a little to suit some special occasions.
This was my first design of my Devil's Food Cake. The Fluffy white Meringue frosting was too soft for the cake and cannot stand the hot n humid weather in Kuala Lumpur. However not many people ordered this cake maybe because it looks rather plain.
This is my new improved design of Devil's Food Cake. I used Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream and then topped with Chocolate Ganache and Chocolate nuggets. The Swiss Meringue Buttercream and the Chocolate ganache set well on the cake and can stand long hours without refrigeration and most suitable to the scorching hot and humid weather of Malaysia.
This is my latest design of my Devil's Food Cake. I was requested by a customer to change the design to be more colorful and children appropriate. So I changed the Chocolate Nuggets with colorful chocolate coated peanuts for the top of the cake because it has odd shapes and can stand up well and provide a good dimension to the cake design. On the side I used colorful sugar coated chocolate candies from Nestle Smarties, similar to M&M but I don't like M&M because it has those printed letters on each candy.
